Time Span Formatting in SSAS

Support for custom formatting string: DD.HH:MM:SS

Displaying measure values in a Time Span format (DD.HH:MM:SS) is not supported by SSAS. The BI Portal offers a solution.

Logical "AND" in SSAS

Member selection based on "AND" instead of "OR"

Members selection in SSAS can be based on an "And" logical operation. The "Existing" MDX function fails if the filter selection is placed in the sub-select/sub-cube.  The BI Portal offers a solution.

Custom Security and Data Driven Subscription (DDS)

Single-Sign-On in DDS with MS SQL and SSAS


The BI Portal offers all the components for the SSRS DDS to work with a Single-Sign-On and custom security. The solution also extends the default DDS capabilities by allowing subscriptions to custom documents such as SSAS ad-hoc reports, business-rules-based report deliveries, and DDS for MS SQL Standard and Express Editions.

Memory Analysis and Caching in SSAS

1) SSAS is a file-based engine.  Requesting files goes thru the System File Cache. The actual memory used by the SSAS is a a combination between the one used by the process and the one used for caching files by the OS.     

2) The SSAS IO should be broken down into Logical, Physical, and Cached.

Memory and Disk IO in Windows

1) Memory used by a process is backed up by either physical memory or a file. The Windows OS is responsible for figuring out the best way to allocate memory among the processes on the system.

2) Disk IO is issued only if the required pages are not found in the System File Cache or in the Process Physical memory.
