Single-Sign-On (SSO) with SSRS, SSAS, and SQL

The BI Portal offers a complete security solution. It supports all security models offered by SSRS, SSAS, and SQL.  It also allows the user to login once and his/her identity to flow to the Web App, SSRS, SSAS, and SQL services.  This makes it possible for a non-technical user to perform Self-Service BI.

This platform also allows with a SINGLE Report and Datasource, unlimited number of users with unique security requirements to be served with customized data and reports.

Security in MS Analysis Server (SSAS)

Supported Security Types:

1) Anonymous – everyone sees the same data. No authentication needed.

2) Windows Integrated – Windows Domain Controllers are authenticating the users. Not suitable for the Internet where Windows Domains are not commonly used.

3) Custom Security (ASP.NET Membership or other) – Role or User based custom security commonly using relational database tables for looking up security data.  Most common for the Internet deployments.  SSAS built-in security model is used.

4) External-to-SSAS security – a variation of 3) but SSAS built-in model is NOT used. The security is handled outside SSAS.

What is MS Analysis Server (SSAS)?

I get this question a lot.  The short answer is: it’s an automated “group by” engine.
